DC/OS

DC/OS is a distributed operating system based on the Apache Mesos distributed systems kernel. It enables the management of multiple machines as if they were a single computer. It automates resource management, schedules process placement, facilitates inter-process communication, and simplifies the installation and management of distributed services. Its included web interface and available command-line interface (CLI) facilitate remote management and monitoring of the cluster and its services.

Deployment

DC/OS can be easily deployed on Packet via Terraform script with as many nodes as needed.

DC/OS has written their own guide to setting up a cluster on Packer. It's very concise, and a good resource for getting started quickly. You can find DC/OS's guide here

Alternatively, you can follow our own documentation. It's relatively similar to DC/OS's guide, but a bit more hands on. You can find our guide to DC/OS on Packet here.

Note: DC/OS mentions in their installation guide that the default configuration leaves the network open. This is a security concern, and should be address as soon as your cluster is up and running.

You can find information on the proper security configuration for your DC/OS cluster here.

ARM

While DC/OS is not supported on ARM architecture, interested users can find an outline of the current state of Mesos on AArch64 in this presentation.
